Title:
Promoting Excellence and Development in Leadership 14-19: Researching 14-19 education and training in a changing policy landscape.
This innovative programme will be hosted and certificated by the Centre for Post-14 Research and Innovation at the Institute of Education, working in partnership with Learning Plus UK, and sponsored by The London Challenge.
This is an exciting research and development programme designed to equip middle and senior leaders in London with the skills to contribute to an improvement in levels of attainment in the 14-19 age group and focusing particularly on post-16.
Aim:
To enhance the quality of leadership within the 14-19 phase in London.
Through the programme participants will develop their abilities in:
assimilating the national and local agendas and relating them to borough and institutional need
identifying appropriate and effective transition opportunities for learners
creating structured opportunities for the student voice to be heard
creating a suitable teaching and learning environment to meet the needs of the learner
enabling and empowering others to nurture and develop independent thinkers
listening and acting upon feedback where relevant
developing team building skills and effective communication
Who can apply to join the programme?
Middle and senior managers in school sixth forms, sixth form colleges, general further education colleges and work-based learning providers.

All applicants need a letter of support from their Headteacher / Principal and, if accepted, are committing to their attendance on ALL FOUR of the dates below:
16 November 2010 9.00 am - 3.30 pm
09 February 2011 10.00 am - 3.30 pm
17 May 2011 10.00 am - 3.30 pm
07 July 2011 10.00 am - 3.30 pm
Cost:
The cost is heavily subsidized by Learning Plus UK in the cause of raising achievement for 16-19 year olds across London; the details of the cost are available upon application. In the event that the sponsored member of staff cannot attend a workshop/s, the incurred costs would be invoiced to the institution.
